If Peace Be The Prize

The butcher wields his knife and says,
"Yes it's okay to kill.
To do it takes some heart,
Some strength
Even a little skill.
After the first few times won't even see the blood you spill.
Yes, it's alright to kill."

The peddler wields his tongue and says,
"Man it's okay to lie.
Not all the time
Just til you see your profits multiply.
And maybe after that just to protect your piece of pie.
Man it's not bad to lie."

The glutton wields his fork and says,
"It sure feels good to eat.
Three meals a day and more can only keep me feeling sweet.
Some folk - man it's a wonder they don't pass out in the street.
Yes
I just love to eat."

The victim wields his heart to ask,
"Is it not right to care?
To love enough to conquer every plight in life we share.
And if peace be the prize
To honour every life out there.
It can't be wrong to care."
