Inner Peace

I have made peace with myself
I've listened to my soul
My long fought war is over
I've finally gained control
No more a life of torment
Or struggling to make sense
Of destitution, apathy,
Self pity or pretence.
I have made peace with myself
I've waved the chequered flag
Forthwith I have declared no more
To let my spirit sag
And when within my casualties of war are dragged away,
Like battered, bloodied remnants of a war torn yesterday
My self stands strong in victory and much more than that is known
My character is bettered and my confidence has grown.
I am at peace with myself
I've settled on the Rock
I’ll cry no more for comfort
Nor plead about my stock
For what is life material but hopes and dreams in vain?
When said that you have all there is,
What else is there to gain?
No, lets make peace with ourselves
Whilst time for that remains
Let’s recognise true riches
And what true love attains.
